Undoubtedly, Dale's favorite Winston paint sheme, the metallic gold and black trimmed Chevy, was an extension of his passion, when not behind the wheel of a racecar. IMHO, there is only one other prototype that would rival this in collectibility, which also is a 50th Anniversary piece and that would be the 1998 Goodwrench Service Plus, which Dale won his first and only Daytona 500. Before each year's model reached production, a number(generally known to be 12 or less) of "prototypes" would be made, each with slight variations in shades of color or sponsor decal placement. These would then be shown to the sponsors, drivers and teamowners, who would then decide which version would be produced.
The Bass Pro Shops 1:24 RCCA Elite offered here, is one of the one of those incredibly rare items, easily identified by its "PROTO" stamped tag. This has not been displayed, just carefully packed away in its nondescript white shell; its now time for another to appreciate and maybe let it see the light of day.PLEASE CHECK MY OTHER AUCTIONS FOR OTHER PRODUCTS AVAILABLE.
